The Story

In 208, the Shu forces struggled against the Wei forces. Cao Cao led a 5,000-strong elite cavalry to pursue Liu Bei, who abandoned his family and fled. Zhao Yun took on the role of rearguard, protecting Liu Bei’s family.

In 219, Zhao Yun led a small group of horsemen out of camp to gather intelligence. He encountered Wei’s vanguard force and fought them until Wei’s main forces arrived and surrounded him. With no options left, Zhao Yun fought his way back to camp. Upon seeing the enemy approach, Zhao Yun cleverly ordered the gates opened and the war drums silenced to create the illusion of an empty camp. Believing an ambush awaited, Wei’s forces retreated, only for Zhao Yun to launch a counterattack, sending them into chaos.

Zhao Yun is celebrated as one of the Five Tiger Generals for his powerful combat skills, loyalty, courage, and intelligence.
